Day_01 was a long day! After visiting the Kansallismuseo (National Museum of Finland) we went shopping... We have recently renovated our dishware (in fact, we did not have any for twelve people), and we decided to buy it in Helsinki, an Arabia quality second hand 'vintage' one. But we will talk about it another day! _El Dia_01 va donar molt de si. Després de la visita al Kansallismuseo (el Museu Nacional de Finlàndia) vam anar de compres... Darrerament hem estat renovant la vaixella de casa (de fet, no en teniem cap que funcionés com a tal), i vam decidir que els plats principals els compraríem a Hèlsinki, de qualitat, però de segona mà... vintage. Però d'això en parlarem un altre dia!

In the afternoon we went back to the museum... to Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Helsinki. The primary focus in the museum collection is on Finnish contemporary art. The collection, which  is presented to the public in annually changing thematic exhibitions, owns currently more than 8,000 works, with new acquisitions adding about 100 works per year from Finnish artists and artists living in nearby countries. _A la tarda vam tornar a anar de museus... i vam anar a veure el museu Kiasma, el museu d'art contemporani d'Hèlsinki. La colecció del museu, que es presenta al públic en exposicions temàtiques anuals, està centrada, sobretot, en art contemporani finès i compta, actualment, amb més de 8000 obres, i cada any n'afegeix unes 100, sobretot d'artistes finlandesos i d'altres artistes que viuen als països colindants.

The story of the Kiasma building began with an architectural design competition in 1992. The winner of the competition was American architect Steven Holl with his entry Chiasma; the term denotes that point in the brain where the optic nerves cross. Construction of the museum on Mannerheimintie began in 1996. The name Chiasma was changed into its Finnish form, Kiasma. The opening of the new museum was celebrated in May 1998. The total number of visitors to Kiasma passed the three million mark in 2011. _Kiasma és obra de l'arquitecte americà Steven Holl, que va guanyar el concurs l'any 1992 amb el nom de Chiasma, el punt en què al cervell es creuen els nervis òptics. La construcció del Museu va començar l'any 1996, que va obrir al públic al 1998. El nom va canviar, aleshores, a la seva forma finesa... Kiasma. Fins al 2011 han passat per les seves exposicions uns tres mil·lions de visitants.

Currently you can see there three exhibitions... Kiasma Hits, classics of Finnish contemporary art are presented alongside famous international artworks as well as the latest acquisitions from the Kiasma collection. _Actualment s'hi poden veure tres exposicions... Kiasma Hits, on clàssics de l'art contemporani finlandès es presenten juntament amb obres d'art de renom internacional, així com les últimes adquisicions de la col·lecció Kiasma.

Alfredo Jaar (Xile, 1956)... The overriding theme in the artist's large scale installations, films, photographs, objects, and neon works is human and social morals – our responsibility for our own fate and that of others. Presented on two floors at Kiasma, the retrospective show comprises more than 40 works from 1974–2014, including such ground-breaking works as Lament of the Images, The Silence of Nduwayezu and The Sound of Silence. _El tema principal en les instal·lacions de l'artista de gran escala, pel·lícules, fotografies, objectes i obres de neó és la moral humana i la social, la responsabilitat del nostre propi destí i el dels altres. La mostra retrospectiva composta per més de 40 obres des de 1974 fins al 2014, inclou obres tan innovadores com Lament of the Images, The Silence of Nduwayezu and The Sound of Silence.

For this exhibition Kiasma will also re-create One Million Finnish Passports, Jaar's historic landmark work shown for the first time in Helsinki in 1995 and destroyed after the exhibition. _Per a aquesta exposició Kiasma també recrear Million Finnish Passports, obra fita històrica de Jaar que es mostrà per primera vegada a Hèlsinki al 1995 i es va destruir després de l'exposició.

Kimpassa... Marimekko and Kiasma have opened a platform for collaboration between designers and contemporary artists. _Marimekko i Kiasma han obert una plataforma per a la col·laboració entre dissenyadors i artistes contemporanis. 

By building a bridge to connect contemporary art and the designers, products and materials of Marimekko, and giving a free hand to the participants, the exhibition project sought to create something innovative and interesting. _Mitjançant la construcció d'un pont per connectar l'art contemporani i els dissenyadors, productes i materials de Marimekko, i donant via lliure als participants, el projecte expositiu pretenia crear alguna cosa alhora innovadora i interessant.

The invited 16 artists and designers have all a long-standing relationship with either Kiasma or Marimekko. They were given a carte blanche to produce any kind of work for the exhibition, working either alone or together as they chose. _Els 16 artistes i dissenyadors convidats tenen una llarga relació tant amb Kiasma com amb l'empresa Marimekko. Se'ls va donar carta blanca per produir qualsevol tipus d'obra per a l'exposició, ja fos de manera individual o en col·laboració.
