The third of the four museums that we visited in Helsinki was the Art Museum Ateneum, where we saw a great exhibit on the life and works of the Finnish painter and writer Tove Jansson (1914-2001) in her jubilee. _El tercer dels quatre museus que vam visitar a Hèlsinki va ser l'Ateneum, el Museu d'Art d'Hèlsinki, on hi vam poder veure una gran exposició sobre l'obra i la vida de l'escriptora i pintora finlandesa Tove Jansson (1914-2001), que actualment celebra el centenari del seu naixement, coneguda, sobretot, per la creació de la sèrie de llibres i còmics que protagonitzen els Muumi (que representen tota una completa filosofia de vida, i que han llegit tant infants com adults).

When the Ateneum was placed under government administration in 1990, its collections were divided between the Ateneum Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Ateneum's collections introduce Finnish art from the Gustavian period of the mid-18th century to the modernist movements of the 1950s. Ateneum also houses a handsome collection of international art, featuring works by such masters as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Fernand Léger and Marc Chagall. _Quan l'Ateneum va ser posat en mans de l'administració del Govern l'any 1990, les seves col·leccions es repartiren entre el Museu d'Art Ateneum i el Museu d'Art Contemporani Kiasma. Per tant, les col·leccions de l'Ateneum introdueixen l'art finlandès des del període Gustavià de mitjans del segle 18 fins als moviments moderns dels anys 50s. L'Ateneum també allotja una bona col·lecció d'art internacional, amb obres de mestres com Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Fernand Léger i Marc Chagall.

The Ateneum building, dubbed a "Palace of a million marks" by its contemporaries, was completed in 1887, and the Finnish Art Society's collections were first exhibited in its rooms on 13 October 1888. The name Ateneum alludes to the Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare, Pallas Athene. She was also a protector of cities and government. Ateneum means a temple or shrine to Athene. The 1950s and 60s saw a campaign to raise the Ateneum to a standard European level, and one way of achieving this was thought to be the purchase of international contemporary art. The emphasis was still on Finnish art, as befits a national gallery. _L'edifici matrix de l'Ateneum, anomenat el palau d'un milió de marcs per part dels seus contemporanis, es va completar el 1887, i les col·leccions de la Societat d'Art de Finlàndia s'hi van exposar per primera vegada el 13 d'octubre de 1888. El nom Ateneum al·ludeix a la deessa grega de la saviesa i la guerra, Pallas Athenea. Ella era també una protector de les ciutats i dels governs. Ateneum significa el temple o santuari d'Atenea.

Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was one of the most beloved writers and painters in Finland. But she was also a comic artist, caricaturist and illustrator. Her international reputation is based particularly on her Moomin books and comics. The exhibit include original illustrations, books and three-dimensional Muumi tableaux from various decades. _Tove Jansson (1914-2001) va ser una de les escriptores i pintores més estimades a Finlàndia. Però va ser també dibuixant de còmics, caricaturista i il·lustradora. La seva reputació international li ve donada sobretot pels seus llibres i còmics dels Muumi. L'exposició inclou il·lustracions originals, llibres i objects tridimensionals Muumi de diverses dècades.

The Moomins are the central characters in a series of books, and a comic strip by Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish in Finland. They are a family of white, roundish fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them resemble hippopotamuses. The carefree and adventurous family live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, their temporary residences have included a lighthouse and a theatre. They have had many adventures along with their various friends. The Moomin stories concern several eccentric and oddly-shaped characters, some of whom are related to each other. The central family consists of Moominpappa, Moominmamma and Moomintroll. Other characters, such as Hemulen, Sniff, The Snork maiden, Snufkin and Little My are accepted into or attach themselves to the family group from time to time, generally living separate lives in the surrounding Moominvalley, where the series is set. It is in this fictional valley, that the Moomin family decides to live at the end of 'The Moomins and the Great Flood'. Critics have interpreted various Moomin characters as being inspired by real people, especially members of the author's family. They were bohemian, lived close to nature and were very tolerant towards diversity. Most of Jansson's characters are on the verge of melancholy. Jansson uses the differences between the characters' philosophies to provide a venue for her satirical impulses. _Els Muumi són una família d'éssers de ficció, propers als contes de fades i a la tradición nòrdica dels trols, semblants, per la forma, a hipopòtams. Viuen en una casa a las Vall dels Muumi, tot i que abans han viscut en un far i en un teatre. Són personatges dolços i delicats que es caracteritzen per les sedes bones maneres i el seu llenguatge educat. En qualsevol ocasió pot sorgir l'aventura, una aventura sempre ingènua i fantàstica. L'amor i el respecte als semblants i la unió familiar i la llibertat de cada un dels seus membres n'és la moralitat última, que tot sovint toca qüestions de la problemàtica social actual. 

The jubilee exhibition at Ateneum Art Museum (14.3 - 7.9.2014) showcases her many faces. For years she sought recognition most of all as a painter. The core of the exhibition is in fact formed by her amazingly broad and diverse painting output, which spans five decades. Great changes took place in art and world history during Tove's lifetime, and this was reflected in her art. _L'exposició del centenari al Museu d'Art Ateneum (14.3 - 2014.09.07) mostra les seves múltiples facetes com a artista.  Durant anys va tenir gran  reconeixement, sobretot com a pintora. El nucli de l'exposició està format, sobretot, per aquesta faceta de pintora increïblement àmplia i diversa, que abasta cinc dècades. Grans canvis es van produir en l'art i la història del món durant la vida de Tove, cosa que es va reflectir en el seu art.
