Last friday we went to see the role-play Fedra at Teatre Romea of Barcelona.
Fedra, under the influence of forbidden love that Venus imposed her, fells in love with Hippolytus, Theseus and Amazon Antiope's son, just after marrying Theseus, son of Aegean, King of Athens. Inspired by his confidant, Enon, and before the news of the death of King, she confesses her passion. Wounded by the rejection of Hippolytus, comfabula and pretend to look like the victim of bullying when Theseus returns alive from the war. _Fedra, sota l'influx de l'amor prohibit que Venus li ha imposat, s'enamora d'Hipòlit, fill que Teseu havia tingut amb l'amazona Antíope just acabada de casar-se amb Teseu, fill d'Egeu, rei d'Atenes. Inspirada per la seva confident, Enona, i davant les notícies de la mort del Rei, confessa la seva passió. Ferida pel rebuig d’Hipòlit, comfabula per semblar la víctima i fingir l'assetjament d'Hipòlit quan Teseu retorna viu de la guerra.
Struck by a deep sense of guilt, Phaedra goes into a personal hell. Her boundless passion and the irrepressible drive her and the other characters into a tragic fate. Love is treated as a disease which also, besides Phaedra, have her sister Ariadne and her mother Pasiphae. _Colpida per un profund sentiment de culpa, Fedra s’endinsa en un infern personal. La seva passió desbordant i irrefrenable la conduirà, a ella i a la resta de personatges, a un tràgic destí. L'amor és tractat com a una malaltia de la qual a més de Fedra, són preses la seva germana Ariadna i la seva mare Pasífae.
Fedra (original French title, Phèdre, or Phèdre et Hippolyte) is a play written in 1677 by Jean Racine and is based on the classic Greek myth of Phaedra, and inspired by the tragedy of the same name written by Seneca. The piece of Jean Racine consists of five parts written in Alexandrine verse. _Fedra (títol original en francès, Phèdre o Phèdre et Hippolyte) és una obra de teatre escrita l'any 1677 per Jean Racine i que es basa en el mite clàssic grec de Fedra, i s'inspira en la tragèdia llatina del mateix nom escrita per Sèneca. La peça de Jean Racine consta de cinc parts escrites en versos alexandrins.
From the very first moment this role-play arouses the audience's interest and does not let it go until the end. Two hours without letting a single breath stop. Two hours when the final tragedy can be sensed in each of the sentences of the characters. Just two hours of pleasure for the senses thanks to the power of the actors performance. _Des del primer instant l'obra desperta l'interès del públic i no el deixa anar fins al final. Dues hores seguides sense pausa per a l'alè, en què la tragedia final s'intueix en cada una de les frases dels personatges. Són només dues hores de gaudi pels sentits gràcies a la potència dels actors que la representen.
