AHIR vaig anar a... l'estrena de l'obra de teatre La Ratonera, al Teatre Apolo de Barcelona.

Després de 62 anys triomfant ininterrumpidament a Londres, arriba a Barcelona La Ratonera d’Agatha Christie. Des de que es va estrenar al 6 d'octubre de 1952, més de 10 milions d’espectadors, més de 25 000 funcions, 300 actors i diversos records Guiness (per exemple, les 4500 representacions al llarg de dotze anys de l'actor David Raven) l’avalen. The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie. The Mousetrap opened in the West End of London in 1952, and has been running continuously since then. It has by far the longest initial run of any play in history, with its 25,000th performance taking place on 18 November 2012. It is the longest running show (of any type) of the modern era. The play is also known for its twist ending, which the audience are traditionally asked not to reveal after leaving the theatre.

Agatha Christie, la dama del suspens, duu a l'escenari 8 personatges aïllats accidentalment a la Mansió Monkswell. Sempre hi ha un assassí... i sempre és present entre els personatges de la casa. Però mai res és el que sembla!

Mousetrap, o La Ratonera, perquè la representació de Barcelona és en castellà, es va concebre com un relat per a la ràdio amb el nom de Three Blind Mice (tres ratlins cecs), i es va adaptar, posteriorment, en una novel·la curta que més tard va passar al teatre. Mai se n'ha fet una adaptació cinematogràfica perquè Agatha Christie va vendre els drets per al cinema amb una clàusula que especificava que no es podría filmar mente s'estigués representan en un o altre teatre. I així  és durant 62 anys. The play began life as a short radio play broadcast on 30 May 1947 called Three Blind Mice in honour of Queen Mary, the consort of King George V. The play had its origins in the real-life case of the death of a boy, Dennis O'Neill, who died while in the foster care of a Shropshire farmer and his wife in 1945. The play is based on a short story, itself based on the radio play, but Christie asked that the story not be published as long as it ran as a play in the West End of London.

Una altra curiositat és que Agatha Christie va regalar al seu nét de 9 anys els drets de l'obra. Ja podeu pensar, doncs, que Mathew Prichard, el nét, es va fer multimilionari! When she wrote the play, Christie gave the rights to her grandson Matthew Prichard as a birthday present. Outside of the West End, only one version of the play can be performed annually and under the contract terms of the play, no film adaptation can be produced until the West End production has been closed for at least six months.

El final de tot això, òbviament, no us l'explicarem. Heu d'anar a veure l'obra per a saber-ho.  Aneu-hi ben desperts perquè dura prop de dues hores i mitja. Tot i que la trama és intrigant, segurament d'aquí a uns dies els actors estaran més rodats i la química entre ells serà major. De totes maneres... sempre serà molt millor que l'obra del teatre del costat... sí, sí, la del Victòria. No me la feu recordar! The murderer's identity is divulged near the end of the play, in a twist ending which is unusual for playing with the very basis of the traditional whodunnit formula, where the cliché is that the detective solves the crime and exposes the remaining plot secrets. By tradition, at the end of each performance, audiences are asked not to reveal the identity of the killer to anyone outside the theatre, to ensure that the end of the play is not spoiled for future audiences.
