Santa Classics is a new series of images created by artist, photographer and Santa devotee, Ed Wheeler (for the past thirty years, Ed has photographed people, places and things for some of the most important corporations in America). Wheeler imagines Santa entering into the great masterworks of art, with humor and reverence for the originals. It's all the work of photographer Ed Wheeler, who superimposes himself dressed as Santa in the works of Botticelli, Caravaggio, Monet and more. _Santa Classics és una nova sèrie d'imatges creades per l'artista i fotògraf devot del Pare Noel, Ed Wheeler (que durant més de trent a anys ha fotografiat persones, llocs i coses per a algunes de les corporacions més import ants d'Estats Units). Wheeler imagina el Pare Noel a les grans obres dels maestros de l'art, amb humor i reverència per les originals: Ed Wheeler se superposa a si mateix vestit com a Santa a les obres de Botticelli, Caravaggio, Monet i d'altres.
Ed Wheeler has been dressing for more than 35 years as Santa for holiday cards for nearly as long. Inspiration struck in 2011 as Wheeler stood in front of Emanuel Leutze's famous painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was then, Wheeler says, that he first realized that Santa was destined for greater things: to invade the world of classical art. _Ed Wheeler s'ha estat vestint com a Pare Noel per a targetes de Nadal durant més de 35 anys. La inspiració li va venir el 2011 quan era davant la famosa pintura d'Emanuel Leutze 'George Washington creuant el Delaware' al Museu Metropolità d'Art. Since then, Santa has made surprise appearances in many famous paintings. To date, Wheeler has incorporated himself dressed as Santa in more than 40 paintings. _Des d'aleshores, el Pare Noel ha aparegut per sorpresa en molts quadres famosos. Often Santa replaces a main figure in a painting; sometimes he is added to a group composition or may even be the single human presence in a landscape. Wheeler’s intent is to pay homage to the original paintings while offering art lovers an additional reason to smile. Once a painting is selected, Wheeler embarks on a multi-step process to fully integrate Santa into the lighting, brushstrokes and tonal values of a particular painting. _Sovint substitueix la figura principal en una pintura; de vegades s'afegeix a una composició de grup o fins i tot pot ser la única presència humana en un paisatge. La intenció de Wheeler és retre homenatge a les pintures originals alhora que ofereix als amants de l'art una raó més per somriure. Una vegada que es selecciona una pintura, Wheeler s'embarca en un procés de múltiples passos per integrar plenament el Pare Noel en quant a la il·luminació, la pinzellada i els valors tonals d'una pintura en particular.
