Again Finland and Catalonia have something in common. This time we must travel to the North Karelian town of Juuka, because a group of students from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, coordinated by Ari Jaaranen, is raising an ice cathedral. _Una vegada més Finlàndia i Catalunya s'uneixen d'alguna manera. En aquesta ocasió hem de viatjar fins a la localitat finlandesa de la regió de Carèlia del Nord Juuka, perquè un grup d'estudiants de la Eindhoven University of Technology d'Holanda, coordinat per Ari Jaaranen, s'hi han desplaçat per a construir-hi una catedral de gel.

Based on the design of La Sagrada Família in Barcelona, one of the structure's domes will be 30 meters high, making it the loftiest ice dome in the world. _L'estructura està basada en el disseny de la Sagrada Família de Barcelona. Una de les cúpules tindrà uns 30 metres d'alçada, convertint-la, d'aquesta manera, en la cúpula de gel més alta del món.

Construction of the ice cathedral began in December and is reportedly on schedule for completion next week, although its formal inauguration will be the 24th of January. A type of reinforced ice mixing wood fibres and plain ice called pykrete, that is three times stronger than plain ice, is being used in the construction. _La seva construcció va comenzar al mes de desembre, i està previst que acabi la propera setmana i es pugui inaugurar el 24 de gener. S'hi està utilitzant gel reforçat amb fibres de fusta barrejades amb el mateix gel... el seu nom és pykrete, que és tres vegades més fort que el mateix gel.
